Gadwal sarees are a beautiful and ornate part of the rich Indian textile heritage. These sarees are produced in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh and were originally used as Puja or prayer sarees. A Gadwal sari is known for it rich look, brilliants colors and simple yet ornate zari work. The sari consists of cotton body with silk pallu which is also given a new name as Sico saris. The unique feature of Gadwal Sarees lies in the interlockings or joints during weaving These saree features a fine cotton field which is weaved separately and later interlocked with borders and pallu made out of pure silk. The materials used in manufacturing Gadwal handloom sarees are Silk / Cotton and Zari. The silk border is made of Tussar or mulberry and the body is made using unbleached cotton.
